The Aether also intensified his physical abilities and projected energy blasts, which was how he put up such a strong fight against Thor. He used the Aether to turn matter into dark matter and could extract the Aether from other people, as he did to Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World. Since the Aether was actually a liquefied version of the Reality Stone, possessing the power of one of the Infinity Stones was a unique power that Malekith had. Though most of the Dark Elves were wiped out in the first conflict versus the Asgardians, Malekith’s superhuman attributes combined with the power he got from the Aether helped him survive the war. He was the leader of the Dark Elves who, while wanting the best for his species, resorted to cruel and violent methods to get his desired outcome. However, he does actually possess quite a bit of unique power that may not have been demonstrated to its full potential. Though he’s shown more of his good side lately, the Loki series is a chance for the MCU to showcase glimpses of 2012 Loki's power. He may not be the big ruler of some group, but Loki’s unique skill set made him a threatening force, especially in the early MCU. Loki’s shapeshifting allowed him to cosplay as Odin in Ragnarok and his ability to conjure items comes in handy in battle. His Frost Giant physiology makes him strong, but he’s also a skilled magician growing up under Frigga in Asgard. Loki has been a constant pain in Thor’s side in the Thor franchise. Unlike most MCU villains who have a film or two to get their stories across, Loki has been a consistent presence throughout the various phases. The Avengers was the first true show of Loki’s powers, such as the chilling scene where he commands the civilians in Stuttgart or the fact that he killed Phil Coulson. He starts off the MCU on his brother’s side, but he’s shown that he’s not afraid to betray those close to him for his own benefit. The adopted brother of Thor, Loki’s a complicated character as he’s more of an anti-hero. Since his introduction in Thor, Loki has arguably become the MCU’s most beloved villain. Skurge may have been considered strong amongst the Asgardians as he was part of their army, but his abilities probably wouldn’t have stood the test against some stronger forces within the Nine Realms. The fight he put up on the final Rainbow Bridge battle was also a testament to Skurge’s Asgardian physiology, showing off his superhuman strength, stamina and reflexes. Before he was ultimately killed by Hela’s Berserkers, he was able to fight off a few. Skurge was skilled in battle both with his weapons and in combat, seeing as he survived the Battle of Valheim as an Einherjar. She appointed him as her executioner and though he did almost kill an innocent woman, Skurge was able to redeem himself by the end of Thor: Ragnarok by sacrificing himself for the Asgardians. When Hela returned to Asgard and killed Volstagg and Fandral in front of him, Skurge likely felt as if he had no choice but to obey Hela’s command. He was dedicated to protecting Asgard, even becoming the guardian of the Bifrost at one point. Skurge wasn’t always considered a villain, actually starting as part of the Asgardian army called the Einherjar.
